MOTIVATED BEGINNERS ● ADVANCED ACTORS
GRADUATES OF OTHER MEISNER PROGRAMS WELCOME
The ongoing Summer Program offers Motivated Beginners, and actors who have already had some Meisner training, an introduction to the Studio’s accelerated three-phase Meisner program. Because ours is an ongoing program, students can join at anytime (New students join at the beginning of each month). Students participating in the Summer Program will be guided through the exercises that comprise Phase I of the three-phase program. Those with previous Meisner experience will, at the instructor’s discretion, pick up their studies at a phase the instructor deems appropriate. At the instructor’s discretion, selected students will apply what they have learned by performing scenes from contemporary works.
Students who wish to continue their training at the Studio in September may do so by invitation only. Other schools teaching traditional Meisner programs also offer summer “intensives,” however, these schools require students continuing in September to start over from the beginning with the rest of the September class. We do not. Summer Students invited to return in September can continue where they left off.
Small class size allows us to track each student and monitor his/her progress individually. The Summer Program allows students the flexibility of attending one, two, three, or four summer classes per week on a monthly basis. Special Professional Workshops in Speech, Accents, Movement, On-Camera Commercials, On-Camera Audition Technique, Public Performance, Working on Film/TV, etc. are also offered. The Studio has new state-of-the-art hi def cameras and monitors, a new 50-seat performance space, and a new camera studio. Generally speaking, the more often a student attends class each week, the quicker he/she progresses.
Advanced Actors who have completed a 2 year Meisner program may join The Advanced Workshop. An interview, and possible audition, is required. The Advanced Workshop focuses on application of technique, and also includes a Performance Lab. The Advanced Workshop member will acquire not only a clear and practical Meisner-based audition technique, but also a specific approach to: film and TV work (hi def camera, 50″ monitor), script analysis and interpretation, cold readings, advanced scene study and public performance (industry is invited), and character work. The Advanced Workshop, along with it’s subsidiary The Performance Lab, offers Meisner trained actors the opportunity to fine tune their skills, work on any areas of weakness, and keep limber.
Participants are offered the option of attending one, two, three, or four acting classes per week. The first month of study is a probationary one: students who have shown a commitment to the difficult task of learning the craft of acting will be invited to continue their studies at the end of their first full month of classes. Enrollment is on a month-to-month basis.

THIS WORKSHOP MAY BE THE MOST FUN LEARNING EXPERIENCE YOU’VE EVER HAD.

The aim of the course is to enrich our own speech and vocal production by adding range and authority, and to master the most commonly called upon dialects for stage, film, and television.
After a brief excursion into phonetics to sensitize us to standards of pronunciation, we will use written pieces, such as nonsense poetry, scenes, and other playful, stylized materials, to enhance vocal animation, clarity, and volume. Then we will study, in depth, the popular dialects used for film, television, and stage work, stressing their wide-ranging potential for characterization. The 7-session workshop will be comprised of 6 to 8 people. You may also work with Gordon on a dialect of your choice. The tapes of the sessions, along with Gordon’s written materials, will provide participants with the ability to perfect their speech, dialects, and vocal production for years to come.
First come, first serve. Payment in full reserves your seat.
Dr. Jacoby is also available for private one-hour sessions. The fee for one-hour private sessions with Dr. Jacoby is $100 (cash, PayPal , or checks made payable to The Ted Bardy Studio). There is a 24 hour cancellation policy for private sessions (please read the downloadable Information Packet available on the website).
All sessions with Dr. Jacoby, whether private or in groups, are taped, so you must bring in a recording device, preferably battery operated, and plenty of blank tapes. Gordon will provide written materials and text.
